Advanced Acting Lab
Los Angeles Scene Study and Acting Technique Class. Freeing the actor through technique.
Available spots
Service Description
The Work This lab is for advanced actors who are ready to go deeper-not just what you’re doing, but how you’re doing it. An advanced scene study lab focused on applying technique from an organic, instinct-driven place. Actors work to dismantle habits, move beyond “safe” choices, and create truthful, specific performances through rigorous, real-time work. Drawing from the core principles of master teachers such as Eric Morris and Uta Hagen, we use technique to free the actor in scene study-not restrict them. The focus is on emotional availability, physical specificity, and the courage to stay alive and unpredictable in the moment. This is a space for actors committed to the ongoing evolution of their craft. The Result: You leave with a reliable process for your work, a deeper understanding of your instrument, and the tools to create performances that are grounded, specific, truthful, and alive. Instructor Spotlight Diana Brown is an acting teacher, director, and producer with over 25 years of experience, including 16 years on the faculty of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her approach draws from her extensive experience directing at venues like Arena Theatre and Long Wharf Theatre. She holds a BFA in Acting from UNCSA. “Studying with Diana Brown was transformative—she gave me the tools, discipline, and perspective to develop a truthful, naturalistic acting technique, and her guidance remains essential to who I am as an actor. Tough in all the right ways and deeply committed to her students’ growth, she empowers actors to solve their own challenges while always pushing them toward authenticity, clarity, and love in their work.” — Calvin Picou “You know those teachers in your childhood that really, truly, stuck out to you? The ones that you can never forget because they were truly there for you, and wanted nothing but the best for you? That’s the kind of teacher Diana Brown is. If you want an acting teacher that will build you up to be the best version of yourself you can be, look no further.” — Ricardo Alzate Course Details Schedule: Twice weekly for 6 weeks (36 total contact hours).
