The Work Acting is the ability to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances, but that truth requires a radical shift from the head to the body. This intensive is designed to strip away the “performance”—the masks and intellectualizations—and return you to your most intuitive, animal self. It is a focused, rigorous return to the fundamentals of presence. During this four-hour Los Angeles intensive, we dive into the core pillars of the Meisner technique: the "first moment," "coming to the door," and the mechanics of "emotional preparation." By focusing on the reality of doing, we dismantle the habit of "acting" and replace it with the habit of responding. This session is for the actor ready to trade safe choices for a visceral, reactive point of view. The Result: You will walk away with a sharpened sense of presence and a practical framework for approaching scripts from a place of emotional depth rather than intellectual habit. You will leave the room with a more grounded and authentic instrument, ready to meet any scene with raw honesty. Instructor Spotlight Jana Lee Hamblin has been a professional actor for 33 years and a dedicated instructor for over two decades. Known for her intuitive approach to actor training, Jana specializes in helping artists bypass their internal critics to find a more raw, honest connection.
