Service Description

Bring the songs that matter most to you. Whether it's a musical theater classic you've always wanted to perform, an audition piece you're still discovering, or a song that simply feels deeply personal, this six-week performance lab gives you the time and guidance to explore material that speaks to you. Working closely with Perry Hart, you'll receive individualized coaching on the songs you choose, exploring vocal technique, lyric interpretation, character, storytelling, and performance. Some students spend the session developing a single piece in depth, while others explore multiple songs as they discover new repertoire and new artistic possibilities. The focus is on finding a truthful connection to the music you choose. Throughout the course, you'll: Bring in songs that are meaningful to you for individualized coaching. Strengthen vocal technique while developing healthy singing habits. Explore lyric interpretation, character, and storytelling through song. Receive personalized feedback on vocal performance, stage presence, and song selection. Develop material at your own pace, whether focusing on one song or exploring several. Prepare selected material for the Singer Salon. The course culminates in the Singer Salon, an intimate live performance on the LACAE stage where you'll share the work you've developed throughout the session. You'll leave with a stronger connection to your repertoire, healthier vocal technique, greater confidence communicating through song, and material that continues to grow with you as an artist. Instructor Spotlight Perry Hart is a true industry legend with over 30 years of experience as Professor and Head of Vocal Production at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. An award-winning Musical Director (LA Drama Critics Circle Award), Perry served as Vocal Arranger and Coach for Debbie Reynolds for two decades. As a celebrated performer himself (String of Pearls), he brings a lifetime of professional experience to every class, creating an environment where artistic exploration and technical excellence go hand in hand.
