Experience Level: All Levels Recommended For: Anyone who wants to try stand-up comedy for the first time, or comedians with material they'd like to develop into a 5-7 minute set. Have you ever wanted to try stand-up? Have you always thought you were funny? Does your agent tell you every month just to get up there and do it so you can finally put it on your reel and resume? “Stand-Up 1-0-Something!” is a four-week comedy workshop culminating in a showcase performance, where students will have the opportunity to present a polished 5-7 minute set before a live audience. This workshop is designed for individuals eager to explore stand-up comedy for the first time, enhance their comedic techniques, or refine their skills on stage by developing a new set and focusing on their material. Each week will build from the next by working on your stage presence and comedic timing, writing and working out new material, and developing an act that has a foundation and point of view. Stand-up comedy is all about confidence, consistency, and being able to stay in the moment while reading the room and keeping up with the energy of the crowd. Each student should leave this workshop feeling confident that they can perform anytime and be themselves on stage. Early Registration Ends March 11 About the Instructor: Originally from the beautiful state of NJ, Mike Perkins is a comedian and producer that has been featured all around the country at clubs such as The World Famous Hollywood Improv and The Comedy Store in LA, and on the road at clubs like the Comedy Works in Denver, The Stand in NYC, and Helium Comedy Club in Philly to name a few. Mike has also been featured in many comedy festivals, most notably winning “Best of the Fest” at the Burbank Comedy Festival and was a Semi-Finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival. Mike is the host and producer of his very own LIVE late-night comedy talk show called Another Late Show Tonight! now featured here every month LACAE. In this exciting series, he writes and performs fresh monologues, sketches, videos, and interviews with touring headlining comedians and musicians from television and across the country. He’s also joined by his comedic partner in crime Paul Brodo, along with the always incredible live house band The SHOW with Adam and Sean! Many have claimed it's the best LIVE late-night talk show they've ever attended, featuring Mike, that lovable East Coast guy, who infuses every performance with his uplifting energy.
