Service Description
Some songs deserve your full attention. In this intensive, students work alongside one another as each student dedicates focused time to a single musical theater ballad, refining every aspect of the performance through personalized coaching, rehearsal, and live performance. Open to both teens and adults, this intensive provides focused, conservatory-style training in a supportive environment designed for committed performers. Working on one piece throughout the intensive, students strengthen breath support, vocal stamina, sustained phrasing, lyric interpretation, and emotional specificity while exploring the balance between vocal technique and storytelling. Rather than moving quickly from song to song, each performer has the opportunity to dig deeper, make discoveries, and develop a performance that feels fully realized. Throughout the intensive, students will: Develop a musical theater ballad through focused coaching and rehearsal. Strengthen breath support, vocal stamina, and sustained phrasing. Explore lyrics as dramatic text to create specific, playable choices. Deepen emotional connection while maintaining healthy vocal technique. Refine a performance in preparation for The Ballad Showcase. The intensive culminates in The Ballad Showcase, where students perform on the LACAE stage for family, friends, and fellow artists. This is the same intensive offered as part of our adult summer series, allowing dedicated teen performers to train alongside adult students in a thoughtfully structured, professionally guided environment. Performers leave with stronger vocal technique, healthier vocal habits, greater confidence, and a polished piece they can continue to develop for auditions, cabarets, concerts, and future performance opportunities.
