MIS-CAST Workshop

LA On-Camera Acting Class: Defy and Redefine Your "Type"

From 80 US dollars
Camarillo Street

Service Description

Experience Level: Some Prior Training Recommended Recommended For: Actors with foundational training who want to expand range, explore nontraditional casting, and deepen character work on camera. You know those roles you’ve always wanted to play, but don’t think you’d ever be seen for? The characters that live far outside your “type,” yet somehow feel the most like you? Inspired by the annual Broadway MISCAST Gala, this on-camera workshop invites you to step into roles that break the traditional casting mold—and gives you the footage to prove why you are, in fact, the right person for them. Over the course of the workshop, you’ll choose a scene that challenges your usual casting lane. You’ll work it on its feet, build character from the inside out, and explore the creative freedom that comes from finally playing a role you’ve always loved. This is about claiming your range, trusting your instincts, and showing a fuller picture of who you are as an artist. In this on-camera class, you’ll walk away with professionally shot self-tape footage of your miscast scene that is grounded, specific, and designed to highlight qualities casting doesn’t always get to see. If you’ve ever dreamed of taking on a role “they’d never cast you in,” this is your space to do it. Advance Registration Ends February 15 About the Instructor Becca Lustgarten is an actor, writer, and educator with over 15 years of professional experience. What to Bring Water, clothes to move in, something to take notes with, and the courage to name what you want to play, rather than letting others define it for you.
