Service Description

Work the role from both sides of the camera. In this six-week on-camera acting class, Emmy-nominated and Artios Award-winning casting director Alexa Pereira brings the perspective of the casting room directly into the rehearsal process. You’ll work on Film and TV material with an emphasis on making specific, grounded acting choices while exploring how those choices read through the lens of casting. Working with sides and scripts across a range of roles, from co-star and guest star to series regular, you’ll dig into script analysis, character, tone, and the adjustments that can make a performance more specific and compelling. You’ll also explore how the work shifts across different formats and styles, including single-camera, multi-camera, and Disney-style television. Throughout the course, you’ll: • Work on Film and TV sides across co-star, guest star, and series regular roles. • Strengthen script analysis and make more specific choices on camera. • Explore the differences in tone, rhythm, and performance across television formats. • Receive individualized coaching and adjustments from a working casting director. • Develop greater confidence adapting your work to different roles, genres, and material. This is an acting class through the lens of casting: six weeks to dig into the work, take risks, make adjustments, and better understand how your choices translate on camera. Instructor Spotlight An Emmy® Nominee and Artios Award winner, Alexa Pereira has been in casting for over a decade, working on independent features as well theater and a ton of short films. While also independently casting her own projects, she is working with the wonderful casting office of Greenstein/Daniel Casting, most recently on the TV series "Nobody Wants This" (Netflix). Other past credits include the Emmy®-nominated "Muppets Mayhem" (Disney+) and "New Girl" (Fox), Feature films "Stop That Train" and "The Fire Inside" and is the co-casting director for The Blank Theater's Young Playwrights Festival. Being a former actress herself, Alexa loves working with and coaching actors to help find their technique and confidence.
