In this six-week on-camera acting class, former actor and Metropolitan Talent Agency owner Tom Markley brings the perspective of representation directly into the rehearsal process. Working with Film and TV sides selected by Tom, you’ll focus on building specific, grounded performances while exploring what allows an agent to understand your work, see your range, and confidently advocate for you. The class will also examine the transition from conservatory or classroom training into acting professionally. You’ll explore how to carry the depth of your training into auditions, self-tapes, and professional settings where preparation time is limited and the actor must make clear, personal choices quickly. Each week, you’ll break down new material, make strong character choices, and work through adjustments on camera. The focus remains on the craft: listening, preparation, point of view, emotional life, and the choices that make a performance feel personal rather than interchangeable. Throughout the course, you’ll: • Work on Film and TV sides selected by a working theatrical agent. • Strengthen script analysis and make more specific choices on camera. • Learn how to carry your training into auditions and other professional settings. • Explore how your individuality can remain present across different roles and genres. • Practice taking adjustments without losing the life of the scene. • Receive individualized coaching informed by Tom’s experience as both an actor and agent. • Develop a more consistent, adaptable Instructor Spotlight Tom Markley is the CEO and co-owner of Metropolitan Talent Agency, where he has worked since 2007. Before becoming an agent, Tom began his career in theater with Primary Stages in New York and later gained experience in film production after moving to Los Angeles. Tom and Lauren Gibson assumed ownership of Metropolitan in 2017. Under their leadership, the agency maintains a focused client list and places a strong emphasis on individual attention, long-term development, and thoughtful representation. Throughout his career, Tom has worked with a diverse roster of performers that has included Debbie Reynolds, Jackée Harry, Raymond J. Barry, and Seamus Dever.
